Today is the birthday of the legendary jet fighter pilot, engineer, author, and NASA Group 3 Astronaut, Col. Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr. The Nasa Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Shirt and The Apollo 11 Lunar Module Pilot, Buzz Aldrin, and Mission Commander Neil Armstrong were the first two humans to land and walk on the surface of the Moon, Fifty years ago on July 20th. Born on this day in 1930 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to former Army Aviator Edwin Eugene Aldrin Sr. and Marion Aldrin, Buzz excelled in school and loved flying, having flown over 60 combat missions in the Korean War, shooting down 2 enemy aircraft. Buzz went on to MIT earning a Sc.D. degree in astronautics.
