The Hound of the Baskervilles

The Hound of the Baskervilles
The novel “The Hound of the Baskervilles” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is the most famous part of the Sherlock Holmes series. It is set in the Dartmoor in the South East of Great Britain and was released in 1902.

The design of the inner part of the book focuses on traditional (British) values. The copy text is set in Caslon while other parts like page numbers and running title are set in Gill Sans. The whole pages are set on central axis.

The cover shows the lonely Dartmoor in fog, which creates a scary atmosphere. The O in the title transforms into a magnifier to clarify the book as a detective novel.

What is special about the cover is that it is additionally printed with fluorescent ink. The inner part of the magnifier and the text on the book spine is printed with fluorescent ink by silkscreen. In the dark, these parts glow green, following the solving of the novel.
