This illustration is my interpretation of the myth of Hades and Persephone. I love that over time we rethink ancient myths and give them new meanings, for example, making the relationship between Hades and Persephone more about true love and caring for each other.
However, I rarely see visual interpretations of these characters that are similar to my ideas about them. Persephone, being the goddess of nature and grain, is associated with large scales that embrace the entire world. Hades, on the contrary, seems more miniature compared to her. That is why their love looks to me like a clash of two opposites, big life and little death.
