EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATION FOR
THE CHINA PROJECT
I had the honor to illustrate an incredibly insightful essay about 9/11 for The China Project.

Working on this project was extremely rewarding. The richness of the essay allowed for a lot of ways to visualize it. The 9/11 attack was the center of the story, while other themes like poetry, US-China politics, propaganda and indoctrination, etc. - were all revolving around it.
I narrowed down my ideas to three sketches, and later added another sketch with a plot suggested by the author. See all the sketches below.
Most of the sketch ideas were using the language of sequential illustrations and comics. But we decided to select the one that was the most minimalistic: the author's younger self and her current self watching the tragic collapse of the World Trade Center in New York.
