THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL STOPMOTION

The script was visualised in the form of a storyboard with 16 frames. The repeated scenes of the girl lighting the match were combined into one frame. The backgrounds were shading to depict the night time and in frames where the match fades off. The area around the flame was left blank to show the light.
This short animation would appeal to children and adults alike who appreciate heartwarming tales with a poignant message. The sense of fairy like magic and wonder added to the familiarity of Hans Christian Andersen’s work; fuelled with compassion, empathy and social behaviour makes this an interesting storyline. Evoking the feeling of nostalgia, the story takes the viewer back to childhood where they heard of this story for the first time. Overall, the target audience for this project would be individuals who appreciate touching stories that leave a lasting impression.
The VPC helped me identify the target audience and understand their routine. After identifying high schoolers and college students as my niche, it was easy to identify what they would be looking for in a video. Thus, helped select a plot what would fulfil their requirements and identify what is needed.

It made me look at concept development differently as I was looking from the perspective of what would act as pain relievers and gains for the target instead of what i would like to create. My mindset was to design instead of create art.
