His First Holy Communion: A Photo Essay

The Eucharist is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church.  A child that is around 7 years old, typically celebrates the first time receiving the Eucharist as their First Holy Communion.

This is the story of my youngest son's special day celebrating his First Holy Communion, beginning with the above picture showing his excitement for the day to finally have arrived, as we were leaving for the Mass.
On the left, he is standing in front of the church where he received three sacraments, Baptism, Reconciliation, and the Eucharist.

In the middle, he is waiting to line up before processing into Mass with the class of Communicants.

On the right, he is renewing his Baptismal vows before receiving the Eucharist for the first time
Upon receiving the Eucharist, he received a certificate (left).

Standing on the altar, all smiles having completed the mass (middle).

Celebrating with one of his best buddies (right).
Traditionally, after receiving their First Holy Communion, children celebrate at a party with their loved ones.  Here, you can see him with his cake, which he was excited to cut by himself.
