Digitizing Newspaper Classifieds

The Idea

Our client, a seasoned entrepreneur, noticed a gap in the market when it came to newspaper classified ads. He realized that the traditional process of filling out physical forms and going to the newspaper office to post an ad was still a manual and cumbersome process, often requiring the assistance of an agent. To address this issue, he came up with an innovative idea of digitizing the classic newspaper classifieds and creating a mobile app that would make posting ads easier and more accessible.

Unlike other purely digital ad platforms, this app is specifically designed to cater to the trusted and loyal readers of newspapers who still prefer the traditional medium for their news consumption. By leveraging the existing readership and payment infrastructure of newspapers, this app aims to bring the benefits of digital convenience to a wider audience while maintaining the credibility and reliability of traditional classified ads.
My Role

From conceptualizing the idea to building an MVP and ultimately launching a full-fledged product, I've had the privilege of leading and working with a team of Business Analysts, Designers, and collaborating closely with the stakeholders. The journey has been both exhilarating and challenging, as we navigated through various stages of development and deployment, ensuring that the product meets the requirements and expectations of our target audience.

Starting from scratch, the first phase of our journey was to validate the idea and determine the market potential. Through extensive research and analysis, we identified the pain points and needs of our target audience, and developed a roadmap for the MVP. We then worked on creating the MVP, keeping in mind the user experience, and testing it thoroughly to ensure that it meets our standards and is ready for launch.
Starting from the idea to the final implementation, I followed a systematic and structured approach. I conducted thorough research and analysis, collaborated closely with stakeholders, and ensured user-centered design principles were followed throughout the process. By following these steps, we were able to develop a fully functional and user-friendly app that met the needs of both the newspaper readers and the advertisers.
The Result

Initially, our plan was to set the idea in the right direction so that the client could develop an MVP. However, as we conducted research in parallel, we gained deeper insights and clarity. This led us to decide on creating a fully developed product that would allow customers to view ads, publishers to post ads, and include an agent portal for B2B2C purposes. After a journey of over six months, we successfully delivered a fully tested and ready-to-use product. Currently, it is in the marketing phase.
