The Scene of Murder in the Rue Morgue

Edgar Allan Poe was a nineteenth-century American author, best known for his work in Gothic fiction.
He was one of the authors who helped define the Detective Fiction genre, by writing the first detective story The Murders in the Rue Morgue (1841).

The story played an important role in defining the basic structure of a detective story:
- The detective is introduced by a second person (narrator)
- Facts and clues of the murder are presented to the detective
- Detective visits the crime scene to form his own analysis
- The truth is revealed

Of course, it's still a Poe story with memorable disturbing, gory details.

The story is written in 6 parts:
Focus of the Project
The murders took place in Paris, in the summer of 1840.
Two women - a mother and a daughter - were murdered in their bedroom, in an old house on the Rue Morgue.
In this project, I modeled and textured my take on the crime scene.
I focused on the way the facts were presented to Dupin (the detective). He read about the crime in the morning newspaperNewspapers in the nineteenth century had hand-drawn pictures using limited colors
