Jaguar Batik
_____________

The meaning behind this artwork was to bring awareness to habitat destruction from crop farming and animal agriculture. All over the world, especially in our precious rainforests, land is still being cleared for these purposes. As the world population grows the demand for meat products puts a lot of stress on our environment and all of the animals that call it home.

This style of batik is created by dying the cloth in the lightest colors of the design first. After each dye, the area that is to remain that color is painted/drawn on with wax to seal the color. This particular piece went through 7 dye cycles.
