3D300 Term 2- Promotional video for Hasbro Toys
Please note this project is based upon Astro Bot. Astro Bot is a character in the video game titled Astro's Playroom developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. I used the Astro Bot character in this project because of my love for video games and this project serves only as a school project, and finally to showcase my skills in modeling.
Project Brief
For this brief we as students were required to create a promotional video for Hasbro Toys. We tasked with creating a customize toy that has a base model and could be showcase in three different versions. We had to model the whole toy from scratch and include all customizable elements. This project was focused mainly on the modeling and the animations between the different models.
Concept
For this project I decided to model Astro Bot. The reason why I chose Astro is for my love of video games. The goal was to model a base model and from there create three versions of Astro Bot, which include the blue, red and yellow model and each model had to have their own weapon. I also decided to create a platform with the PlayStation symbols to showcase where Astro Bot is from and to give credit to the creators of the game. For weapons I decided to model an axe, claw and space gun. I also decided to use the aifog in Maya to add to the environment.

Process
After, the modeling and texturing phase. The goal was to use the platform where the characters are standing as a method to switch between the different versions. The playbast below shows the sort of animation that I was going for and how I was trying to switch between the different models.
Reflection
I really enjoyed this project because I got to work with the Astro Bot character. It was a success in terms of modeling the character, even though in the beginning I was struggling to model the character to the right form and scale, but eventually I manage to improve on it and showcase a character that looks similar to Astro Bot. This is the project that gave confidence in my modeling skills.
