This table lamp consists of a paper lampshade which I designed and an IKEA Skaftet base. For the lampshade I used paper with a density of 120 g/m² from the CRUSH collection by the Italian paper manufacturer Favini. This is the final lamp that I chose and refined out of three optional prototypes. The final model is cut out with a laser cutter for maximum precision.
I started off with a moodboard of shapes I liked, keeping in mind I was going to work with paper.

After the moodboard I started prototyping quick and small shapes which I found interesting. I chose three of those shapes to develop further and make them more interesting by changing their proportions.
These are the prototypes I made in this part of the process. I chose the final lamp over the first two because it has two great contrasts: a contrast between sharp corners and soft curves and also the strong contrast between light and shadow. I only had to refine the shape now and make sure that the contrasting shadow lines were as sharp as possible.
