Two colours, one emotion.
No one can deny that Kaali Peeli is the colour that moves Mumbai. From the first spark of dawn till the setting sun, these bumblebees tirelessly buzz around the city.
We start our days by frantically trying to convince kaali peeli drivers to take us to our destinations. Once in the taxi, its a whole other game. Some of the most funniest and interesting conversations I have had are with the drivers when they share from their vast pletora of experiences. During the day if you take a stroll around the city, you can see all kinds of limbs jutting out of these cabs, seats pushed back for post lunch nap sessions or just gossip time with friends. At night the red taillight is constantly zooming past getting passengers across in record time.
Kaali Peelis come in all sizes and forms, from the timeless Premier Padmini down to an Alto can be seen in the classic yellow and black. The story of kaali peeli is closely intertwined with the story of the common man. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the busy city, kaali peelis are a basic necessity and an essential lifeline for any Mumbaikar.
