Project notes:
In the spring of 2018 Bailey felt the urge to return to the island for a second sojourn, this time with the goal to paint the land. She felt that her Fogo series would not be complete without her capturing the island’s unique environment, as it has an enormous impact on the lives and psyches of its inhabitants. This book features the outcome of her two-year project: more then forty paintings of Fogo Islanders.
The book is designed in two sections, both section featuring each journey with a half page divider to start the journey. To end nicely the book, a five columns grid interview is use with flexibility, with text and images extending across them.
