Adinkra symbols are visuals with historical and philosophical significance, originally printed on cloth that members of the royal family wore during important ceremonies. Originating with the Gyaman people of Ghana and the Ivory Coast, these symbols have gained global significance and are now found in logos, clothing, furniture, sculptures, earthenware pots and more.

Saturated with meaning, these symbols have come to symbolize the richness of the Akan culture and serve as shorthand to convey profound truths in visual form.

My work consisted in giving a second life to these symbols by transforming them into a current alphabet. It is a way to ensure the continuity of history, to transmit it to future generations.
